Confidence in Grace — Micah 7:8-17
The last part of the book of Micah is a Psalm. This poetry is written from the perspective of suffering from an enemy invasion, perhaps anticipating the fall of Jerusalem a century later or from the experience of the Assyrian siege upon the city during his own time. It is from the difficult times of believers that some of the most poignant pictures of God’s grace come to light.
The LORD is described by Micah as the Light with language that clearly points to God’s provision of righteousness and justification by faith. He then reminds the reader that the LORD is our builder, providing hope during the times of destruction. Finally, Micah echoes the words of Psalm 23, citing the LORD as our shepherd. He will gather His people and in the end be victorious over His enemies. Even in the shadows of darkness, God is our great hope!
