From Start to Finish — Galatians 3:1-5
Have you ever overthought something? That seems to be what the Galatian churches were susceptible to doing. They had the basics of the Gospel. They experienced the transformative power of the Spirit. Now some were trying to convince them that they needed a “new perspective,” a perspective that added law to grace. Foolishness! the apostle Paul declares.
Paul reminds the Galatians that their personal experience should show them the necessity of remaining in the simple Gospel of grace. Whether it was the way they learned about the crucifixion of Christ, the amazing experience of receiving the Holy Spirit by faith, or the way they suffered persecution for their faith – all these things point to the fact that from start to finish it was not about the worthiness of the Galatians or their adherence to the law. It was always about faith. By faith the Galatians were saved just as we are; from start to finish.
