Sons of Abraham — Galatians 3:6-9
In this passage, Paul reminds the Galatians and in turn, all of us, how radical the transformation brought on through faith is in us. Saved by faith, our faith brings us into the family of Abraham. Being a part of a new family with a new worldview, faith changes us.
Sons of Abraham have a new look at righteousness. Righteousness is not something we could ever earn but is something received by faith, just like Abraham our father in the faith. Speaking of Abraham, we have a new look at family. It is no longer about bloodlines and biological family trees, we call fellow believers “brother” and “sister” by faith. And we take a new look at the Gospel. The longer we believe, the more we realize we are not the first generation of believers. The Gospel was proclaimed even to Abraham, before the law, and we as his sons receive the blessing of the promise, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”
